About this Project
The Foundations for Outreach and Recruitment of Great Engineers & Scientists (FORGES) program is a 1-week, hands-on, experiential STEM summer program for 15 local high school students. Students who are accepted into our program have the chance to visit UD departments in the Colleges of Engineering and Arts & Sciences to spark their interest in STEM, learn more about STEM careers and understand the field’s impact on society. Our program is designed to highlight the exciting research happening at the University of Delaware and industry partners and to provide a welcoming introduction to our campus for future UD engineers and scientists. Our no-cost program successfully debuted in the summer of 2024, and we are expanding our program to reach more students.

Donor Impact: How your support makes a difference!
While many students have interest in STEM fields, participation in a summer program may not be feasible due to the financial needs of students and their families. We want to make sure that students who are interested in STEM can participate in an educational program like ours while providing some financial support to go towards their transportation costs, saving for college or simply assisting their households' finances.
Our goals are to:
- lower the barriers that public high school students have historically faced when accessing quality science education; and
- increase the number of students in the FORGES cohort for a greater impact in our community.
Thank you for your support! Funds raised will allow us to provide a stipends to FORGES participants.
Gifts are designated to the Center for Research in Soft-matter and Polymers (CRiSP). The Center will direct funding to this project.
