Climate Change Science & Policy Hub: STEM Sisters
Support a two-day trip to New York for 30 female Pakistani college students studying in the U.S.

About this Project

STEM Sisters is a collaboration between UD, the American Institute for Pakistan Studies and the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan. The goals are:

  1. to introduce Pakistani female college students to how STEM research and teaching is conducted in American universities; and
  2. to encourage the women to think of themselves as lifelong career professionals in the STEM fields.

Thirty female college students from Pakistan are selected to participate, most from underprivileged backgrounds. This is a life-changing opportunity to visit the U.S., expanding their cultural horizons and fueling their personal aspirations. The program consists of two weeks of intensive workshops and classes on the UD campus, including local field trips. Visiting New York City is a dream for these students: seeing the Statue of Liberty, touring the United Nations and visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Donor Impact: How your support makes a difference!

With donor support, STEM Sisters can travel by Amtrak, instead of driving multiple vans, making the trip greener and safer. And instead of rushing through one busy day, we can experience NYC over two days, increasing the impact of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Gifts will be designated to the Gerard J. Mangone Climate Change Science and Policy Hub. The Hub will direct funding to this project.
