About this Project
During the Extension Scholar program summer internship, students will follow Cooperative Extension's service learning model, implemented through one of extension's four program areas: 4-H youth development, health and well-being, lawn and garden, and agriculture and natural resources. Current undergraduate or graduate students at UD are eligible to participate. Opportunities are available in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties.
Donor Impact: How your support makes a difference!
Each year, Cooperative Extension offers seven or eight summer scholar opportunities to UD students. Our extension agents and specialist use their limited financial resources to help support the $4,500 stipend and expenses related to the scholar. Your gift will help us to continue offering UD students unique, hands-on summer experiential learning opportunities.
The below survey responses reveal cooperative extension’s impact on our students through their summer scholar program and the importance of continuing this program.
"This program not only equips you with the tools and independence to engage directly with the community, but it also fosters a growth mindset and inspires fresh ideas."
"The experience that I gained in the clinic and the lab was priceless and will be invaluable as I begin looking to apply for jobs after graduation."
"As a future physician, I will take this knowledge with me to provide more holistic care that considers the social contexts that everybody comes from.”
Thank you for gift to support the UD Cooperative Extension Scholar Program!
