About this Project
Dr. Roland Roth was a beloved faculty member in Entomology and Wildlife Ecology who passed away in June. During his 35-year tenure, he advised, taught and mentored hundreds of students under the stalwart canopy of the Ecology Woods. Many of those students have gone on to become educators themselves, extending Dr. Roth’s legacy to future generations. This project will continue that work by raising funds to ensure ongoing support of student research projects and internship opportunities within this campus wild space.
Donor Impact: How your support makes a difference!
Your gift to the Dr. Roland Roth Ecology Woods Fund ensures increased undergraduate research experiences like those Roland fostered for so many students. Alumni across the eras have shared stories of impact and life-changing moments spent in the Woods, as they found their career paths and solidified their commitment to conservation. Gifts to this fund will be an investment in the future of our environmentally-minded students.
If the Dr. Roland Roth Ecology Woods Fund reaches $50,000 in gifts by June 30, 2025, it will be an endowed fund designed to last in perpetuity. If the $50,000 is not reached, the contributions will not be invested and will be spent as current-use support. All contributions made to this fund are restricted for use according to the agreement for the endowment.
