New Directions Early Head Start
Provide Needed Services to Children Who are Unhoused or Housing Insecure

About this Project

Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow, learn and thrive. However, children experiencing homelessness face challenges that can jeopardize their well-being. New Directions Early Head Start is dedicated to providing critical support, education and resources to young children and their families. This project will help us provide direct services to children who are unhoused and help their families secure stable housing.

New Directions Early Head Start (NDEHS) offers home-based and center-based services for families. NDEHS  is an inter-agency program committed to empowering and supporting pregnant women, infants, toddlers and their families. The consortium is comprised of multiple agencies including The Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Delaware and community provider agencies.

How your support makes a difference!

Your gift makes it possible to provide children with:

  • Transportation to and from vital services
  • Short-term emergency shelter
  • Assistance to secure stable housing
