About this Project
The Brain Wellness Information, Support, and Empowerment (Brain-WISE) program is a 6-module, group-based workshop to provide education and support for improving brain health in aging. In the last year and a half, we've been able to help 143 people in and around Delaware reduce their risk of dementia. Our community partners have included a senior center, a Jewish Community Center, a church, and a retirement community. We have also trained 13 UD student clinicians to conduct cognitive screenings and counsel people about brain health.
Approximately 45 % of cases of dementia could be prevented or delayed by making lifestyle changes and reducing certain risks. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misleading information in the news and on TV, and it isn't easy to figure out how to improve brain health in an evidence-based way. Additionally, making changes to health habits can be challenging. With continued funding, we hope to offer the Brain-WISE program to more people and with new community partners.
How your support makes a difference!
Your gift will help the Brain-WISE program print participant workbooks, rent space (if needed) and pay our clinical supervisors. Thank you for your support in furthering our community outreach!
Gifts may also be used as general support for the Center for Cognitive Aging Research.
