About this Project
Geology majors are required to take a field methods course that involves travel through the western United States. This capstone experience allows students to apply classroom knowledge of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structures, tectonics and surficial processes to real-world problems in the field.
The Doc Thompson Geology Field Experience Endowment makes this essential training possible, providing partial support for expenses that many of our students would otherwise be unable to meet. These students are then able to join their peers on one of the western field methods courses, which involves driving around some portion of the American West to see areas of different geological significance.
How your support makes a difference!
Your gift will reduce costs associated with field training in the western United States for geology students at UD who may not otherwise be able to afford the opportunity. Thank you!
The Doc Thompson Geology Field Experience Endowment is an endowed fund designed to last in perpetuity. All contributions made to this fund are restricted for use according to the terms of the endowment.
