About this Project

Lee Anderson was a world renowned fisheries economist who worked at the University of Delaware in the School of Marine Science and Policy for nearly 40 years. He passed away in 2023. His wife set up the Lee G. Anderson Fisheries Economics and Management Fund to honor his career and desire to create a fellowship for graduate students interested applying the tools of economics to sound marine fisheries management. As the fund grows it will be used to help students fund small research efforts and, in time, will provide full support for one student.

Lee was a pioneer in fisheries economics and management. From his early days he was on a mission to bring reason and economic sense to how the world manages it fisheries. He published an endless stream of articles, traveled the world peddling his ideas and met with fisheries manager on a regular basis. This fund is planting seeds to create new economists like Lee.
