Cooperative Extension: Summer Extension Scholars
Help Cooperative Extension share hands-on learning with as many students as possible.

About this project:

Extension Scholars will immerse themselves in the world of Cooperative Extension through this hands-on experiential learning environment. Working closely with their mentors, they will gain real-world experience, actively participating in the field.

Scholars will engage with summer youth camps, teaching interactive lessons on healthy living to children ages 8-12. They will learn about and assist in processing plant samples that serve both the public and commercial growers. Additionally, scholars will contribute to the development and delivery of a new educational walking trail in Dover, which will highlight topics such as agricultural history and natural resource conservation. Cooperative Extension impacts the community in many ways, bringing university research directly to the public.

How your support makes a difference!

Your gift will help support Cooperative Extension's efforts to share the experiential learning environment with as many students as possible.

Previous scholars have said this experience helped them to:

  • Discover my career options, and where my strengths lie
  • Realize that the same communication strategy will not work with every group
  • Delve into the world of insects in a constructive manner
  • Look more into the program for future placement and involvement

Gifts to this project will be designated to the Cooperative Extension Program. Cooperative Extension will then direct funds to support Summer Extension Scholars.
