About this Project
Imagine your home country is being taken over by the Taliban and you are a woman who wants to go to college. Imagine making the decision to leave your family and country behind in order to get an education--and you get on a plane without knowing where it will land. You arrive in America and wait on a military base for three months before learning that the University of Delaware has offered to take you in and give you an education.
That's what happened to the 15 Blue Hen women from Afghanistan in 2021 who have learned English, explored American culture and studied fiercely to get a college degree.
Join the 200 donors who have stepped up to make these women's dreams come true, and feel the power of making a personal difference in the lives of these young women.
How your support makes a difference!
Fifteen students who came from war-torn worlds have been given an academic home at UD-- knowing they have no family financial support.
Your gift supports their personal living expenses, opportunities to travel and experiences like internships. Though they can't study abroad, they want to learn about America and their chosen field of study. Your gift will help pay for their day-to-day expenses while also expanding their vision of America and their professions.
Gifts to this fund may support additional refugees/displaced students in the future.
