School of Music
Help UD Music students use music scores to advance as musicians, teachers, creators and scholars.

About This Project

At the University of Delaware School of Music, students grow not only as performers, but also as thoughtful, versatile musicians, artists and teachers. One of the most powerful tools in that journey is direct engagement with great repertoire. We invite you to help us expand our collection of orchestral, band and choral study scores. These scores are central to our newly redesigned keyboard skills curriculum (itself the result of hundreds of invested faculty hours), where students explore music in the most “hands-on” fashion possible: reading, analyzing, singing and playing works that span centuries and cultures.

Your support will allow us to build a vibrant collection of scores that strengthens learning across our curriculum, including music theory, aural skills, music history and large ensemble performance. When students work directly with these materials, they deepen their musical literacy, sharpen their analytical and listening skills and gain the conceptual fluency that fuels creativity and artistic insight. By investing in these resources, you help ensure that UD musicians graduate with a broader, richer understanding of the repertoire and with the knowledge, curiosity and inspiration to thrive as leaders in the musical world.

How your support makes a difference!

Your gift helps place the music itself into our students’ hands. Gifts at every level make an impact, from funding an individual study score ($40) to helping build a class set of scores used in our newly redesigned keyboard skills courses ($250). Larger gifts help us expand our collection so that students across music theory, aural skills, music history and ensemble programs can work directly with the repertoire they are studying and performing.

As one student recently shared, “Working directly with the score makes the music come alive. It helps me understand how every part fits together and how I can bring that knowledge into my own playing and teaching.”

When you give, you help provide the tools that transform curiosity into insight and talent into mastery. Together, we can place the music in our students’ hands and empower the next generation of Blue Hen musicians to bring it to life.
