About This Project
For the Animal and Food Sciences Department, animal teaching models and simulators will enhance current courses and student learning opportunities and allow for new animal courses to be developed that will meet our current and future students' needs -- opportunities that students, faculty and alumni have been asking to see offered within the Animal and Food Sciences department for several years. Teaching models and simulators allow students to safely and confidently learn essential skills before applying them to live animals, subsequently improving and protecting teaching animal health and welfare.
How your support makes a difference!
Your gift will directly support the purchase of various farm animal teaching models, including but not limited to a full-size bovine reproductive and venipuncture model (such as those used at veterinary institutions for teaching veterinary students), equine venipuncture and nasogastric intubation models and swine venipuncture models. All of these models will allow for student to learn and practice essential animal health and handling skills like collecting blood, administering intravenous medication and safely delivering calves without risking the health and welfare of our teaching animals. This will in turn allow students to feel more prepared and confident when entering the workforce and will give them the upper hand in veterinary school.
