About This Project
Extension Scholars will immerse themselves in the world of Extension through a hands-on experiential learning environment. Working closely with their mentors, they will gain real-world experience by actively participating in the field. Scholars will engage with youth, teaching interactive lessons on healthy living to children ages 8 to 12. They will also learn about and assist in processing plant samples that serve both the public and commercial growers as well as travel statewide to maintain and monitor native plant plots that support beneficial predatory insects. Cooperative Extension impacts communities in many ways, bringing university research directly to the public.
How your support makes a difference!
Your gift will directly support 2026 Summer Extension Scholars. Hear what one 2025 Summer Extension Scholar had to say about their experience:
“This summer, I learned how important it is to meet youth where they are and make learning meaningful. I gained a better understanding of how Cooperative Extension creates real impact by combining education, outreach and service. Most of all, I learned that I enjoy being in a role that supports others and helps them grow. I feel more prepared to pursue a career that involves education, science and public engagement." - KR
