About this project:
One of 34 Sea Grant programs in the national network, Delaware Sea Grant at the University of Delaware works in communities across the First State to foster sustainable coastal economies, develop resilience to coastal hazards and prepare the next generation of coastal leaders.
In partnership with local, state, regional and national organizations, Delaware Sea Grant works to:
- Protect human health by addressing emerging contaminants in our coastal waters and seafood.
 - Enhance recreational fishing by removing hundreds of derelict crab pots from the Inland Bays.
 - Support shellfish aquaculture by working with local harvesters and aquaculturists to implement best practices, and by distributing seed oysters grown in our pilot-scale hatchery.
 - Protect coastal communities by helping to develop practices that protect local residents and residential developments near wetlands and waterways.
 - Provide job training through skills programs in the field of green infrastructure design and construction.
 - Develop environmental literacy by producing educational materials for use in and out of the classroom, providing professional development opportunities for educators and meaningfully engaging with preK-12 students in career exploration and the process of science.
