About this project:
The Promoting Active Community Engagement (PACE) program brings together adults with disabilities, their caregivers, and University of Delaware students for inclusive physical activity in Delaware’s public parks. Participants walk, roll, stretch, and bike alongside trained student facilitators, building fitness, confidence, and community belonging.
PACE uniquely combines park accessibility audits with guided, behavior-supported activities, advancing health equity for people with disabilities while preparing UD students to become inclusive health and wellness leaders.
How your support makes a difference!
Your gift helps make Delaware’s parks welcoming and accessible for everyone. Each contribution directly supports adults with disabilities in becoming more physically active, and provides UD students invaluable, hands-on experience leading inclusive community health and wellness programs.
- $25 → Provides small participant incentives for one person for an entire season (spring, summer, or fall).
- $50–$75 → Purchases new or replaces adapted exercise equipment used throughout the season.
- $150 → Replaces or refurbishes shared wearable fitness monitors to support participants’ progress, engagement, and motivation.
- $500+ → Supports accessibility audits and the launch of a new PACE park site by addressing major access barriers (e.g., missing or inaccessible signage) and equipping the site for inclusive wellness programming.
Our goal is $3,500 to sustain group sessions, maintain adapted exercise equipment, and expand to additional Delaware park locations, creating more opportunities for everyone to move, connect, and thrive.
