PACE Program
Empower adults with disabilities to stay active and connected through inclusive park-based programs.

About this project:

The PACE Program (Promoting Active Community Engagement) connects adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their caregivers and UD students through inclusive physical activity in Delaware’s public parks. Participants walk, roll, stretch and bike alongside trained student facilitators, building health, confidence and community connection. PACE links accessibility audits with guided, behavior-supported activities, advancing health equity for people with disabilities while preparing UD students as inclusive health leaders.

Funds raised will support adaptive equipment, wearable monitors, participant rewards and training for student facilitators—bringing active living opportunities to more Delaware communities.

How your support makes a difference!

Your gift helps make Delaware’s parks places for everyone. Every contribution supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be active while UD students gain hands-on experience leading inclusive community wellness. Here is how:

  • $25 → adaptive materials and small participant incentives.
  • $150 → funds one group session (student facilitators’ time, adaptive supplies, hydration/incentives).
  • $250 → pooled support to maintain/replace shared fitness monitors.
  • $500+ → helps prepare and launch a new PACE park site.

Our fundraising goal is $3,500 to fund group sessions, maintains shared monitors and prepares the next park site for launch.
