UD Health and Disability Laboratory: PACE Program
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Promoting Active Community Engagement (PACE) program brings together adults with disabilities, their caregivers and University of Delaware students for inclusive physical activity in Delaware's public parks. Participants walk, roll, stretch and bike alongside trained student facilitators, building fitness, confidence and community connections.
PACE uniquely combines park accessibility assessments with guided, individualized physical activity opportunities, helping adults with disabilities become more active while providing UD students with valuable hands-on experience in inclusive health and wellness programming.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your gift helps sustain PACE programming in Delaware's public parks by providing the equipment, technology and operational resources needed to deliver inclusive physical activity opportunities. Contributions directly support adults with disabilities in becoming more physically active while giving UD students valuable experience facilitating community-based programs.
- $25 could cover essential program supplies and equipment maintenance
- $50–$75 could purchase or replace exercise equipment used during PACE sessions
- $150 could help purchase Garmin fitness watches to monitor physical activity, track progress, and support participant engagement
Our goal is to raise $2,000 to sustain PACE sessions, purchase wearable fitness monitors, maintain exercise equipment and ensure continued opportunities for adults with disabilities to stay active and connected in Delaware's public parks.
