Department of Art History: 60th Anniversary
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
During 2026-27, UD’s Art History Department celebrates 60 years of curiosity, discovery, scholarship and a shared commitment to understanding humanity through art. For six decades, generations of students have entered our classrooms to learn not only how to look at art, but also how to ask questions about whose stories it tells and how those stories shape our understanding of the world.
Our alumni have gone on to become scholars, curators, teachers, museum professionals, cultural leaders and nonprofit administrators — professionals who preserve, interpret, teach and make accessible humanity’s shared artistic heritage.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your gift will help us continue to provide students with stimulating educational experiences and the intellectual community they need to become the next generation of professionals to study, preserve, interpret and share the full scope of human culture as manifested in the visual arts.
In honor of our department’s 60 years, consider making a commemorative gift of:
- $60 to celebrate six decades of learning and discovery
- $600 to invest in the students and scholars who will carry our field forward
- $6,000 to make a transformative investment in the department’s next 60 years
Sixty years ago, our department was founded with a vision for the future. Today, we have the opportunity to carry that vision forward. Help us mark 60 years of Art History and build the foundation for the next 60!
