UD School of Music
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The University of Delaware School of Music sits within a short drive of some of the world's great music venues — Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore among them. Our students have the talent to perform on those stages and the curiosity to learn from the artists who grace them, but talent and curiosity alone don't cover the cost of a bus. Too often, our students miss the chance to perform at a regional festival or hear a world-class orchestra simply because there's no way to get there.
Transportation support does more than open doors beyond campus — it also brings our students home to Delaware. Many of our students travel to high schools across the state to perform, teach and share their passion for music with the next generation of Blue Hens. These visits introduce prospective students to the School of Music, build lasting relationships with Delaware's music programs and directly support our enrollment pipeline. Through this project, you can fund both journeys: the ones that take our students to the world's great stages and the ones that bring them back to Delaware classrooms to inspire the next generation of musicians. Help us show the region, and our home state, that our Blue Hen performers can't be beat.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your gift puts a Blue Hen musician in a seat and on the road. A single $110 gift provides transportation for nine students to a single performance or event, whether that's a chance to perform at a regional festival, sit in the audience of a world-class concert a few hours away or visit a Delaware high school to recruit the next generation of music majors.
Because of donor generosity, our students can:
- perform beyond campus, carrying UD's artistry to audiences across the region
- experience world-class performances that shape how they hear and make music
- travel across Delaware to perform and teach at local schools, introducing prospective students to the School of Music
- build connections and confidence through real-world performance opportunities that can only happen on location
Gifts may also be used as general support for the School of Music.
