School of Marine Science & Policy

This HensGiving, be part of our story.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The deep ocean is Earth's largest and least-understood environment — a vast, dark reservoir that absorbs our heat and carbon, shapes our climate for centuries to come and remains largely unexplored. Understanding how the surface ocean connects to these hidden depths is one of the defining scientific challenges of our time, and it is the central mission of the Ocean and Climate Research Group in the School of Marine Science and Policy.

Your gift fuels the earliest and most fragile stage of that work: the bold, unproven ideas that don't yet fit neatly into a federal grant. Seed support lets us test a new hypothesis, analyze a promising dataset or build the preliminary results that turn a good idea into a fundable proposal, often multiplying every dollar many times over in external funding. It also opens doors for the next generation of ocean scientists, sending graduate students to present their discoveries at national and international conferences, where careers are launched and collaborations are born.

THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT

Your support seeds new research, launches student careers and advances discovery we all depend on. Thank you for investing in curiosity-driven discovery about the ocean that sustains us all and in the students who will carry that work forward.

Gifts will be allocated to the School of Marine Science and Policy (SMSP). SMSP will direct support to the Ocean and Climate Research Group.
