ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Founded in 2009 in memory of Lori LaFave, Lori's Hands connects University of Delaware students with Newark community members living with chronic illnesses. Through weekly home visits, student volunteers provide practical assistance with everyday tasks and meaningful companionship while building lasting friendships.

These relationships create opportunities for mutual learning as community members share their life experiences and health insights, helping students develop empathy, understanding and a deeper connection to the community.
