Paul J. Rickards, Jr. Teaching Innovation Grant
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Paul J. Rickards, Jr. Teaching Innovation Grant program encourages the spirit of innovation in education. These seed grants enable faculty to experiment with new approaches and take creative risks in their teaching. Each funded project is shared through videos, presentations and campus events, so one instructor's breakthrough can inspire teaching across UD.
Recent projects funded by the grant include:
- Business & Game Design: Interactive "Main Street" business simulation that faculty and students build together for practicing entrepreneurial decision-making
- Nursing: AI-enabled communication training for nurse practitioner students
- Art & Design: UV 3D-texture printing that pushes drawing beyond the flat page
- Biological Sciences: Hands-on escape room applying renal and cardiovascular physiology
- Mathematical Sciences: Interactive classroom activities boosting engagement and success in calculus
- Earth Sciences: Augmented reality sandbox for sculpting landforms and simulating geological events
