Muslim Women Scholars
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Muslim Women Scholars (MWS) is a vital support network at the University of Delaware dedicated to empowering women pursuing graduate degrees. Many members are international students who have left their home countries and families to pursue their education while navigating the challenges of adjusting to a new academic environment, cultural expectations and experiences of gendered Islamophobia.
MWS provides a welcoming and supportive community where Muslim women and women graduate students of all races, cultures and backgrounds can connect across disciplines, share experiences and find a sense of belonging. Through this network, members build meaningful relationships, support one another and gain the encouragement needed to thrive both academically and personally.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your generosity helps Muslim Women Scholars (MWS) at the University of Delaware create a welcoming community where women pursuing graduate degrees can find connection, encouragement and a sense of belonging. Donations support biweekly gatherings, social events, hiking trips, picnics, Eid celebrations and iftars.
For graduate students who are far from family and navigating the pressures of academic life, these experiences provide a much-needed opportunity to connect, feel understood and find a sense of home. For master's and PhD students who may be among the few Muslim women in their departments, this community offers an essential network of friendship and support.
Last GivingTuesday, 19 generous donors supported MWS. This year, we hope to build on that generosity and expand the events and traditions that help our members feel connected, supported and empowered to thrive.
Every gift, regardless of size, makes a meaningful difference in strengthening this community.
Gifts made to this fund may also be used for general support of the Muslim Women Scholars (MWS) at the University of Delaware.
