Delaware Men’s Swimming & Diving
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Delaware Men’s Swimming & Diving returned to competition in September, with a solid win over former CAA opponent, Towson. In their opening competition, freshman Grady Redding made a splash, taking the freshman record in the 200-fly in his first collegiate race. Overall, the Blue Hens won 10 events that day. As a result of their performances, they brought home some accolades, with an Atlantic Sun Men’s Swimmer of the Week (Kade Snyder) and Men’s Diver of the Week (Paxton Martinez) honors. They look forward to an upcoming training trip as a team before preparing for championship season. They look to improve upon their third place finish at ASUN championships last spring.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your support of Delaware Men’s Swimming & Diving ensures our men’s swimming & diving student-athletes have the resources they need to have an exceptional student-athlete experience and to achieve success in the classroom, on the pool and in the community. Donations support nutrition services, sports medicine needs, equipment, leadership development, career readiness programming and more for these student-athletes.
Donor support helps fund key resources such as the EliteForm camera system and Hawkin Force Plates subscriptions. The EliteForm camera system is located in the weight room and measures how fast each athlete moves the bar on every rep. Strength coaches adjust each workout to the individual, and athletes can see their progress rep by rep. This data is complemented by the Hawkin Force Plates, which measure the force and power behind every jump. A quick jump test tells staff whether an athlete is fresh or fatigued. It also flags when one leg produces more force than the other and shows each athlete which parts of their training to focus on. Over time, it tracks their strength and power gains. These tools are incredibly useful in reducing the risk of injury.
