Delaware Cross Country / Track & Field
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Delaware Cross Country / Track & Field looks to build upon the momentum set this fall during cross country season. The program continues to build under third-year Head Coach Josh Hayman and his recently promoted Associate Head Coach Sebastien O’Neill. Delaware Track & Field added a slew of talented newcomers to the group over the summer, including three additions to the Hurdles & Multi-Events, three new sprint signees, one new Throws athlete and eight additions to the Distance events. These rookies, along with two new transfers and a strong contingent of returning contributors, look forward to representing Delaware in the program’s second year in Conference USA.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your support of Delaware Cross Country / Track & Field ensures our cross country and track & field program student-athletes have the resources they need to have an exceptional student-athlete experience and to achieve success in the classroom, on the course, track, field and in the community. Donations support nutrition services, sports medicine needs, equipment, leadership development, career readiness programming and more for these student-athletes.
Donor support helps fund key resources such as the EliteForm camera system and Hawkin Force Plates subscriptions. The EliteForm camera system is located in the weight room and measures how fast each athlete moves the bar on every rep. Strength coaches adjust each workout to the individual, and athletes can see their progress rep by rep. This data is complemented by the Hawkin Force Plates, which measure the force and power behind every jump. A quick jump test tells staff whether an athlete is fresh or fatigued. It also flags when one leg produces more force than the other and shows each athlete which parts of their training to focus on. Over time, it tracks their strength and power gains. These tools are incredibly useful in reducing the risk of injury.
