Delaware Cheer
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Delaware Cheer is an integral part of Delaware Athletics. The team trains hard and has performed at all home football games this fall and in home men’s and women’s basketball games so far this season. The squad is focused on their biggest weekend of the year: the 2027 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, held January 15-17, 2027. This year, they hope to bring home more hardware.
They had a successful first season in the DI A division last year, when the All Girl Cheer Partner Stunt group earned a 3rd place finish, defeating Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Purdue, WKU, IU, Arizona State, Washington State and Temple. Delaware Cheer also placed 5th in Game Day and 5th in All Girl Traditional at last year’s national championship. They look forward to representing the Blue and Gold with pride. Let’s Go Hens!
THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT
Your support of Delaware Cheer ensures our cheer program student-athletes have the resources they need to have an exceptional student-athlete experience and to achieve success in the classroom, in competition and in the community. Donations support nutrition services, sports medicine needs, equipment, leadership development, career readiness programming and more for our cheer student-athletes.
Donor support helps fund key resources such as the EliteForm camera system and Hawkin Force Plates subscriptions. The EliteForm camera system is located in the weight room and measures how fast each athlete moves the bar on every rep. Strength coaches adjust each workout to the individual, and athletes can see their progress rep by rep. This data is complemented by the Hawkin Force Plates, which measure the force and power behind every jump. A quick jump test tells staff whether an athlete is fresh or fatigued. It also flags when one leg produces more force than the other and shows each athlete which parts of their training to focus on. Over time, it tracks their strength and power gains. These tools are incredibly useful in reducing the risk of injury.
